Osborn, Lawrence "Larry"

Lawrence F. Osborn, affectionately known as Larry, passed away on October 13, 2026, at the age of 77.

Larry was predeceased by his beloved wife, Sue Ellen; his mother, Angeline; his father, Oliver “Ollie”; and his sister, Joanna.

He is survived by his brother-in-law, Paul (Mary); his niece, Laura (Richard); his grandniece, Sage; his nephew, Ryan; his brother, Paul; and many other cousins, nieces, nephews, and dear friends who will cherish his memory.

After graduating from high school, Larry proudly served in the United States Army from January 1969 until January 1971, when he was honorably discharged. Following his military service, he was persuaded to take a job at Phoenix Steel Mill, where he began an apprenticeship as an electrician. He later continued working in the electrical trade before finding his longtime home at Archmere Academy. There, Larry worked alongside friends and colleagues for more than 30 years, building lasting relationships and leaving his mark on a community that meant so much to him.

One of the most meaningful chapters of Larry’s life began when he met his beloved wife, Sue Ellen, at The Buggy Tavern. The two were inseparable from that day forward, sharing a special bond and a life filled with love and companionship.

Larry was a talented craftsman who enjoyed working with his hands and building things. Whether constructing several porches or creating a beautiful chest for his mother, he took pride in his work and had a gift for turning his ideas into something lasting.

Above all, Larry will be remembered as a kind soul with a quick wit, a generous spirit, and a wonderful ability to make friends wherever he went. He was blessed with many friendships and surrounded by family and loved ones who will forever treasure the memories they shared with him.

Larry’s life was defined not only by the work he did and the things he built, but by the relationships he nurtured and the love he shared. Though he will be deeply missed, his memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 17 at McCrery & Harra Funeral Home (3924 Concord Pike, Wilmington, DE 19803).
