Rebecca Pullig, 88, of Wilmington, passed away peacefully on August 18, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family. Born and raised in Mt. Savage, Maryland, she was the daughter of the late James and Genevieve House.
Rebecca was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, teacher, and friend. She lived a life marked by a love of learning, music, art, faith, and family.
Rebecca was a graduate of Western Maryland College, now McDaniel College, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree. She went on to earn a Master of Education degree from Frostburg State University and continued her education through additional coursework at The College of William and Mary and Virginia Commonwealth University. She dedicated many years to teaching middle and high school students, sharing her love of Latin and English and encouraging generations of young people to learn and grow.
Her love of learning continued throughout her life. Rebecca was actively involved in the American Association of University Women (AAUW) and especially enjoyed participating in an AAUW French Conversation study group. She valued the opportunity to continue learning and engage in thoughtful conversation and build friendships with others who shared her interests.
Rebecca’s faith was an important part of her life, and she participated faithfully in many church activities throughout the years. Music was another great joy. She loved playing the piano and Hammond organ, bringing music into the lives of those around her.
Rebecca also had a lifelong appreciation for art and culture. She was a member of the Delaware Art Museum for more than 40 years and enjoyed visiting art museums wherever her travels took her. She and Jack traveled the world together, making wonderful memories in places including Russia, Morocco, Egypt, and France. At home, she found joy in gardening and watching things grow.
Rebecca is survived by her devoted husband of 63 years, Jack Pullig; her son, Michael Pullig and his wife, Kristi; her beloved granddaughter, Katherine Pullig; and her sister, Laura Jean Shaff.
Her family is grateful for the years they shared with her and for the countless memories she leaves behind. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
A funeral service will be held at McCrery and Harra Funeral Home, 3924 Concord Pike, Wilmington, DE 19803 on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, at 11:00am. Visitation will begin at 10:00am. Burial will be private.
