Joseph Lawrence Corrado passed away on August 11, 2026. He was 86 years old.
Joey was born on May 3, 1940, in Wilmington Delaware. He was the second of six children of Lawrence and Helen Corrado. He grew up in Wilmington’s little Italy section of town and graduated from Salesianum High School in 1958. He went on to join the family business, Corrado Brothers, and after a few years he took his family to Massachusetts to oversee the building of off-campus housing for the University of Massachusetts in Amherst with his good friend Steve Puffer. The construction of Puffton Village held many fond memories for him and was one of his greatest achievements.
In 1969 the family moved back to Delaware, and he resumed working for the family business which had become Site Development Construction. Over the years he had a hand in many other construction projects and companies, finally retiring from Greggo and Ferrara in 2015.
Joey is survived by his daughters Chrissie, Caren, Amie and Stephanie; grandchildren Joseph, Brenna, Alise and Emma; and his great-grandchildren Ayden, Averie, Austin, Adriana and Payton. He is also survived by his sister, Betty and her husband Bert; his brother Bobby and his wife Lisa; his brother Steve’s wife Louise; his brother Anthony’s partner Teena; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
He is also survived by his sweetheart Maple, with whom he shared long walks along the Delaware River in Old New Castle, sightseeing, drives in his car to get ice cream and watching movies. We are very grateful to Maple; she made our father very happy in the last years of his life.
He was predeceased in death by his daughter, Lauren; his wife, Veronica; his parents, Lawrence and Helen; his brothers Larry, Steve and Anthony; and sisters-in-law Polly, Rosemary and Dottie.
We as his family would like to share a few scriptures in the hope of comforting those here who love Joey and will miss him.
Revelation 21: 3, 4 says: “… look! The tent of God is with mankind, and he will reside with them, and they will be his people. And God himself will be with them. And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away.”
No matter how long a man lives there is never a time when those who love him are ready to say goodbye. We will miss our father very much and find comfort in these words of the faithful man Job:
Job 14: 14,15 says “If a man dies, can he live again? I will wait all the days of my compulsory service until my relief comes. You will call, and I will answer you. You will long for the work of your hands.”

A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 26th at McCrery & Harra Funeral Home (3710 Kirkwood Hwy, Wilmington, DE 19808). Friends and family may call beginning at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be private.
