Elizabeth V. Winnington, 80, of Garnet Valley, PA, died Wednesday, August 5, 2026, at her home surrounded by her family.
A graduate of the University of Tennessee at Nashville and the University of Delaware, Beth worked as an Intensive Care Unit nurse and homemaker before finding her calling as a nurse paralegal for GEICO in Wilmington, Delaware.
She was a committed member and Treasurer of Philanthropic Educational Organization (PEO), a non-profit organization providing scholarships, grants, awards, loans to women, especially those whose education has been interrupted and who find it necessary to return to school to complete a degree or certification.
She was an avid reader and active member of two book clubs, one in her Belmont community and the other with her PEO sisters. She was also an active member of St. David’s Episcopal Church and its bible study group. She played an instrumental role in St. David’s outreach programs, including spearheading its support for Homeless Veterans and ensuring the success of its United Thank Offering. When not volunteering her time in support of her community, she enjoyed gardening and walking with each of her beloved dog companions through the years
Beth was predeceased by her father Paul F. Winnington, her mother Elizabeth V. (Gibison), and siblings Frank Winnington and Mary Winnington. She is survived by her daughters Elizabeth Granda and Michele Granda (her spouse Karen Gausch); her grandson Nicholas Granda-Stone (his spouse Lauren Stone); her great-grandchildren Alden and Sullivan Granda-Stone; her sisters Jane Steele (Ray), Anne Marie Delle Donne (Bill) of Rehobeth, Meg Pryor (Jimmy), and Michele Winnington of Martha’s Vineyard, MA; and her brothers Paul Winnington Jr. (Lucille, deceased), Gerry Winnington (Nancy) of Dagsboro, and Peter Winnington (Barbara).She also leaves behind an innumerable number of cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
A celebration of her life will be held at 10:00 on Saturday, August 22, 2026, am with a service at St. David’s Episcopal Church, 2320 Grubb Road, Wilmington, followed by a family attended interment in St. David’s adjoining Memorial Garden.
