Warren, Alice B.

Alice Warren, 96, formerly of Wilmington, Delaware, passed away peacefully at her home in Wesley Chapel, Florida on May 28,2026 after a short bout with cancer. Born Alice C. Bartels on July 2,1929 to Albert and Helen Bartels, Alice was a loving mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend.

Alice’s life was a testament to grace, love, and service. After graduating from Pierre S. DuPont High School in 1947, she worked as a secretary at Atlas Chemical Company. In 1949, she married Thomas R. Warren. Their daughter, Linda, was born in 1959. Together Thomas and Alice shared 55 wonderful years before Thomas’ passing in 2005.

Alice’s family meant the world to her. She was a devoted mother to Linda and her husband, Tim, with whom she lived the last six years of her life. Her two granddaughters brought her immense joy and pride. Alice leaves behind many nieces, nephews and dear friends, all of whom were touched by her giving spirit.

A lifelong member of Grace Episcopal Church in Wilmington, Alice’s faith was a cornerstone of her life. She was one of the first women elected to the church’s Vestry, served as the head of the Altar Guild, sang in the choir, and actively participated in the crafts “Workshop”, where she delighted in creating handmade items to support the church.

Alice was predeceased by her husband, Thomas; her parents Albert and Helen; her sisters Helen Hickman, Anna (“Nan”) Olinick, and Elsie Maloney; and her brother, Albert A. Bartels Jr.

A service in celebration of Alice’s life will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, July 16, at Grace Episcopal Church, located at 4900 Concord Pike, Wilmington DE 19803. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Grace Church - or a charity of your choice - in Alice’s memory.
