Judith A. Doughty, age 86, of Bear, Delaware, passed away peacefully on July 2, 2026. Born in Taylor, Pennsylvania, Judy was the daughter of the late Irma and Thomas G. Edwards.
She dedicated 25 years of service to the DuPont Company, where she worked in Human Resources and Payroll. She was active in Eastern Star and Job’s Daughters. Following her retirement, Judy found her greatest joy in spending time with her beloved grandchildren and family.
Judy is survived by her sister Jean Ganderton (Roy); three children: Michael Doughty; Stephen Doughty (Kristi); and Sandra Karr (Scott). She was a proud grandmother to six grandchildren: Bernadette Doughty, Michael Doughty Jr., Christopher Doughty, Samantha Karr, Madison Karr, and Eric Karr. She is also survived by her cherished great-granddaughter, Laila Doughty.
Family and friends are invited to attend a viewing on Wednesday July 8, beginning at 10:00 a.m., followed by a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. at McCrery & Harra Funeral Home, 3710 Kirkwood Highway, Wilmington, Delaware 19808. Rev. Tracy Keenan will officiate.
Private burial will take place at Gracelawn Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to Delaware Hospice, whose compassionate care and support were a great comfort during Judy’s final days.
Judy will be remembered for her dedication to her family, her kindness, and the love she shared with all who knew her. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.
