Patricia Ann Comegys, age 80, of Wilmington, DE passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 4, 2026.
She was born in White Plains, NY and raised in Wilmington, DE. Patricia was the daughter of the late Marguerite (Brown) and John L. Barnhill. She graduated from PS Dupont High School in 1964 and very proud that she was a “Dynamiter”
While in high school Patricia co-oped at John Watermakers in the candy department. After high school, she worked at Delmarva Power & Light’s credit union then at Gemco Credit Union (credit union for General Motors) where she retired as the head teller after over 20 years.
Patricia was very involved at Seller’s Senior Center where she participated in Wii bowling, playing cards, traveling and enjoyed her lunches with her Senior Eata’s. In her younger years, she attended the former St. John’s Cathedral on Concord Avenue. Patricia was known also for her love of her cats, Ollie and Lily. Bringing her the most joy was when she was with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-granddaughter
Her husband of 20 years Terry Comegys passed away in 1986. Patricia is survived by her daughter, Marie E. Rentz and her husband, Brian; her two grandchildren, Brian Terry Rentz (Nicholas) and Lauran Leslie Rentz; great-granddaughter, Oriana Rentz and her two best friends, Diane Oller and Dotty Cullen. She is also preceded in death by her sister, Judith Barnhill.
A visitation will be held on Friday, June 12 from 10-11am at McCrery & Harra Funeral Home,3924 Concord Pike, Wilmington, DE with a memorial service to follow at 11am. Inurnment will be at St. James Church Cemetery, Newport.
