Deloris Frances Carroll (nee Chomo)
Wilmington, DE, formerly Ocean View, DE - Deloris Frances Chomo age 93, passed away peacefully on May 28 surrounded by love at AccentCare Hospice at Wilmington Hospital.
Deloris was born in South Milwaukee, WI and grew up there and in Penn’s Grove, NJ. She graduated with a nursing degree from St. Joseph’s Hospital nursing school in Philadelphia and worked as a registered nurse for more than 40 years.
Deloris was a breast cancer survivor. She was taught to fish and crab by her father, was an avid Phillies and Eagles fan, and caretaker to her beloved husband when he fell ill with Parkinson’s. She enjoyed reading, Sunday Tailgates regardless of sporting season, aperitifs with her husband every afternoon, family BBQs on her daughter’s deck, and lived with her eldest daughter. Deloris was well traveled, enjoying multiple sojourns to Ireland with her husband. She passed down many treasured family recipes to her daughters and granddaughters.
Deloris was preceded in death by her loving husband of 64 years Edward Eugene Carroll, Jr., daughter Cynthia; beloved parents John Chomo and Frances (nee Pliszka), and brothers Kenneth and Daniel (her twin). She is survived by her children Jacqueline and Stephen Tanzer, Christopher and Sharan Carroll, Pamela and Robert Solomon, and five granddaughters: Shannon Allali (Myles), Cynthia Tanzer (Ray), Rachel Tanzer, Hannah Jackson (Daniel) and Holly Carroll.
Services will be held privately at Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Springfield, PA.
