David Robert Krupa, age 75, of Wilmington, Delaware, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 19, surrounded by his loving family.
Born to Boleslaw “William” Krupa and Blanche (Bieniewski) Krupa, David was a devoted son, proud veteran, dedicated public servant, and businessman.
David attended St. Matthew’s Grade School and graduated from Henry C. Conrad High School in 1968. Following graduation, he served honorably in the United States Army as a Specialist with the 25th Infantry Division in Viet Nam, a role he carried with great pride and patriotism.
David dedicated twenty years of service as a highly decorated Corporal of the New Castle County Police Department, serving from 1971 until 1991. His commitment to protecting and serving his community reflected his strong sense of duty and integrity. Following his law enforcement career, David pursued his entrepreneurial spirit as the owner of Traditional Improvements, a flooring and general contracting business he proudly operated until his retirement in 2018.
A man of many interests and talents, David enjoyed spending his time golfing, deep-sea fishing, horseback riding, trap shooting, and archery. He appreciated the outdoors and treasured the friendships and memories made through his many hobbies.
David was also a proud member of the Knights of Columbus and valued the fellowship and service that membership provided.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Boleslaw “William” and Blanche Krupa; his brother and sister-in-law, William “Bill” and Kathy Krupa; his brother-in-law, Bill Robelen; his sister, Geraldine “Gerry” (Ken) Creasey; and his sister, Mary (Michael) Rozenko.
David leaves behind a loving family who will forever cherish his memory, including his daughters, Amy Thynge and Heather Green (Jeremy); and his beloved grandchildren, Collin, Blake, Gabby, and Logan, who brought immense joy and pride to his life. He is also survived by his sisters, Peggy (Allen) Shepherd and Carolyn Robelen, along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
David will be remembered for his service to his community and country, hardworking spirit, and the lasting impact he made on those fortunate enough to know him. His legacy of love, loyalty, and strength will live on in the hearts of all who loved him.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate David’s life at a memorial service on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, at McCrery & Harra Funeral Home, 3710 Kirkwood Highway, Wilmington, DE 19808. Visitation will be held from 5:00 – 6:00 p.m., with the service beginning at 6:00 p.m. Military honors will be rendered in recognition of David’s honorable service to his country.
