Howard David Knowles Jr. aka Dave, age 67, of Wilmington, DE passed away peacefully surrounded by family on May 10th, 2026.
Dave was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, son and friend. He is preceded in death by his loving wife Linda Knowles, his father Howard Knowles Sr. and his mother Jacqlyn Knowles. He is survived by his children Jessica Knowles (Billy Truxton) and Jason Knowles (Margaret Knowles), his grandchildren Andrew and Cayden, his sisters and brothers Karen Knowles, Cathern Harvey, Richard Knowles, Darren Knowles and Jeffrey Knowles. Dave was defined by hard work, generosity, and unwavering dedication to the people he loved. A self-taught carpenter, Dave built not only a successful construction company, but also a reputation as a man who could always be counted on. He lived his life in service to others, freely giving his time, talents, and kindness without ever expecting anything in return.
For 47 years, Dave stood faithfully beside his beloved wife, Linda, never leaving her side and showing through every day what true devotion looked like. His family was the center of his world, and he would do anything he could for his children and grandchildren, always putting their happiness and well-being before his own.
In his younger years, Dave had a passion for cars and loved building and restoring them, especially his cherished Trans Am. He also enjoyed rock music and carried that love throughout his life especially with his grandsons. Dave found joy in the simple but meaningful moments — golfing with friends, horseshoe games, woodworking, building furniture, drawing, painting, tackling countless home projects, and creating a warm and welcoming home for his family.
Some of his fondest memories were the trips he and Linda took to Lancaster, where they enjoyed exploring and shopping for Amish goods together. Also, living at the beach where he loved to build perfect sandcastles and animals in the sand for his children and grandchildren near the shoreline.
Above all else, Dave will be remembered as a genuinely selfless and caring man — someone who was always willing to lend a hand, offer support, or help someone in need. His strength, kindness, and love leave a lasting legacy in the lives of all who knew him.
Celebration of Life will be held on May 21, 2026 from 3:00-7:00pm at Timothy’s of Newark.
