McCloskey, Julie

Julie Kae McCloskey (Cofer), passed away leaving behind a legacy of love, warmth, and generosity. She is survived by her devoted son Shawn, her daughter-in-law Erin, her beloved grandson Noah, her cherished cats Floyd and Sasha, and a tight circle of dear friends who will miss her deeply.

Julie was happiest in the simple moments—especially the time she spent with her grandson Noah, who knew her as “Juju”, after school and on weekends. Their time together, along with frequent weekend family gatherings filled with dinners, visits to Longwood Gardens, and conversations, created memories that will last forever.

Born and raised in California, Julie carried a free-spirited and open-hearted nature throughout her life. She spent decades building a successful career with Lockheed Martin in Sunnyvale, where she made many lifelong friends. Later in life she moved to Wilmington, Delaware to be closer to her family, a reflection of the deep love she held for them.

Julie had a love for animals and nature. She found joy in feeding birds, bunnies, and squirrels, and took great pride in her garden. Her compassion extended to all creatures, and she never missed an opportunity to care for those around her—both human and animal.

She held especially close to her heart the memory of her beloved Rat Terrier, Simone, and her mother, Margaret “Grammy” Cofer. Their presence remained with her always, and they now welcome her into heaven.

Julie had a a passion for “junkin”—finding hidden treasures and giving them new life. Through her Etsy shop, Ratties Attic, she shared that passion with others, earning a loyal following and a five-star reputation.

She loved celebrating the holidays where she transformed her home into magical experiences with elaborate decorations, multiple Christmas trees, and collections for every season.

Known for her kindness, Julie was always there for those in need. She had a gift for supportive connection, spending hours talking with friends, sharing stories, and listening with genuine care. She also enjoyed unwinding with her favorite true crime shows/podcasts, listening to the Beatles, and loved traveling with her family particularly on trips to Disney World and Disney Cruise Line.

Julie’s warmth, generosity, and vibrant spirit will be deeply missed but forever remembered by all who loved her.
