Porter, Harry G.

Harry G. Porter, age 75, of Wilmington, DE, passed away on March 11, 2026, at Christiana Hospital in Newark, DE. Harry was a graduate of Conrad High School. He worked for Georgia Pacific in Claymont, DE, and later for NuCar Chevrolet in New Castle, DE.

Harry proudly served three tours in Vietnam with the U.S. Navy from 1968 to 1970, achieving the rank of Petty Officer Third Class before returning home. During his service, he received the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal with Bronze Star, and the Vietnam Campaign Medal.

Harry was an active member of the Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association (CVMA), the VFW, and Hogs and Heroes. He had many passions throughout his life. He was a former goalie in a local ice hockey league and also coached a women’s ice hockey team and softball. Harry was also the former owner and driver of a micro sprint race car. He greatly enjoyed riding his motorcycle and was a devoted attendee of Freedom Biker Church – 1st State.

Harry was predeceased by his parents, Harry R. Porter and Martha Porter. He is survived by his life partner of 45 years, Linda Boeckelmann; his son, Elton Porter; and his granddaughter, Cori Porter.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, April 2, 2026, at 12:30 p.m. at Freedom Biker Church – 1st State, 2646 Frazer Road, Newark, DE 19702. Family and friends may call from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Burial will follow at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery. A ride to the cemetery will begin at 1:30 p.m., with the interment service scheduled for 2:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Freedom Biker Church – 1st State in Harry’s honor.
