Robert (Bob) E. Young, 75, of Wilmington, DE, passed away peacefully on March 21, 2026.
Born and raised in Vineland, NJ, Bob graduated from Vineland High School in 1969. He went on to earn a BA in Mathematics from the University of Delaware and an MBA from Widener University, which was followed by a nearly 30 year career at Wilmington Trust.
Bob was predeceased in death by his parents, John and Edith, and brothers Russell and Larry. He is survived by his beloved wife of 44 years, Sue, his children Sam (Stash) and Abby whom he adored, and his granddaughter, Charlotte, whose arrival made every one of his remaining days brighter.
Living for years with an advanced cancer diagnosis, Bob refused to let his illness define him. He brought warmth and humor to everyone who cared for him, lifted up the spirits of friends, and reminded everyone around him to stay positive and optimistic. He had a way of making even difficult days feel a little lighter. He will be remembered for his strength, humor, and deep love for his family.
At home, Bob was happiest working with his hands and enjoyed countless woodworking and home-improvement projects. His garden was a seasonal source of joy where he nurtured life and found peace. He was an avid Phillies and Eagles fan, treasured time spent with his family, and cherished memories made at the New Jersey shore.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Bob’s life at the Wilmington Country Club on Friday, March 27, 2026 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m
In lieu of flowers, the family invites donations to the Abramson Cancer Center at Penn Medicine or Faithful Friends Animal Society in Wilmington.
