Daniel Ira Townsend, 74, a lifelong resident of the Wilmington area died on Valentine’s Day, February 14, 2026.
Daniel was well-known and well-loved in the community where he spent his time. He loved to help others in his neighborhood, and he never met a stranger. He was a beloved, longtime parishioner at St. James Episcopal Church, Stanton, where he was a dedicated volunteer for outreach ministries and coffee hours, and he spent a number of years in the choir and was a regular member of the weekly Bible study group.
He leaves no immediate survivors, but he has left a memory with everyone who knew him.
A funeral service and interment will be held at St. James Episcopal Church, 2106 St. James Church Rd., Stanton, DE 19808, on Saturday, February 28 at 11 AM with a reception to follow.
