Lucy C. Ross, age 94, of Wilmington, DE passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 17, 2026.
She was born and raised in Coatesville, PA and was the daughter of the late Carmela (Gioffre) and Dominic Bartone. At a Sunday dinner, Lucy met the love of her life, Frederick P. Ross. After their marriage, they moved to Wilmington where Fred opened Ross Brothers Market in downtown Wilmington.
Lucy was a devout catholic. She was a member of the Sodality and attended weekly mass at the St. Ann’s Parish. One of her greatest joys was when the family gathered for Sunday dinner. Everyone looked forward to Nanny’s fantastic cooking for the many dinners and special celebrations.
Lucy was a devoted and loving wife to her late husband, Fred who passed away at the age of 100 in 2021. She is survived by children, Tina Derke, Tony Ross (Debbie), Joe Ross (Jeanette Kubler Ross), Cammy Jamison (Bob) and Michele Dempsey (fiancé, Mike McMurry); grandchildren, Nick Derke, Kala Jamison (Mike Dignan), Cole Jamison, Samantha Ross (Nicole), Antoinette Ross (fiancé, Colin Weir), Chris Lex (Ally), Vinnie Lex, Nick Lex, Angela Lex (fiancé, Cesar Sepulveda) and Nicole Dempsey; great-grandchildren, Nora Ross and Skylar Lex. She was also preceded by her brother, Dominic Bartone, and her son-in-law, Hanns Derke.
A viewing will be held on Tuesday, March 3 from 9:30 to 11am at Holy Angels Church, 82 Possum Park Rd., Newark, DE where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11am. Burial will be held privately at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Bear, DE.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
