Johnson, Norma Jean

Norma Jean Johnson, age 91, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family on Friday, February 13, 2026.Her warmth, laughter, compassion and unconditional love filled our lives with happiness and kept us connected.

Norma was born in Swissvale, PA, to Francis R. and Norma Lillian Kenyon. She grew up in Swissvale and was involved in her high school sorority with her many friends and was elected May Queen her senior year. She met her future husband, Richard “Dick” Johnson, while attending church. Together they built a beautiful life, beginning in Wilmington, DE, and moving several times over their 62 years of marriage—making lifelong friends wherever they lived. She was instrumental in making sure her family was settled, secure and comfortable in their new home.

Norma was known for her faith, kindness, sense of humor, gracious hospitality and impeccable style. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great‑grandmother who took great joy in attending her grandchildren’s many activities and accomplishments. Her patience and gentle humor shaped those she loved, guiding them and helping them become who they are today.

Her commitment to faith and service was central to her life. She was an active member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, offering her time and talent whenever needed. Norma was also a dedicated member of P.E.O. International, serving in several roles during her years of involvement. She held a variety of jobs over the years; working as a secretary at Westinghouse, Sales Associates at Pomeroy’s, Office Receptionist, and creating stencils for a local shop. Norma and her husband traveled extensively, enjoying adventures throughout the United States and abroad. While at home she enjoyed playing golf, learning to ski, sewing, knitting and entertaining with family and friends

Norma is predeceased by her husband, Richard “Dick” Johnson, her brother Richard Kenyon, and her son Richard “Rick” Johnson. She is survived by her daughter Lisa J. Hutchison of Wilmington, DE (Bill); her son Robert H. Johnson of North East, MD (Janet); her daughter‑in‑law Gretchen Johnson‑Anzaldo of Greenville, SC (Phil); brother-in-law Howard Johnson (Carol); her grandchildren Sydney Johnson, Matthew Johnson (Emily), Wesley Johnson, Devon Johnson, Jean Hutchison, and Emily Hutchison; six great‑grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. We cherish every memory and the lasting impact of her love and devotion.

Family and friends are invited to a celebration of Norma’s life at St. Paul Methodist Church on March 7, 2026, at 11:00 a.m., with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m.
