Bither, Caroline

Caroline Nason Bither, 90, died February 2, 2026 in Wilmington, Delaware. She was born October 9, 1935 in Lewiston Maine, and raised in Auburn Maine where the family heating and plumbing business was located. She was the daughter of Harry E. Nason Sr and Harriet Files Nason, educated in Auburn, and graduated from the University of Maine at Orono in 1958.

In 1958 she married Peter G. Bither in Auburn. He predeceased her in 1993. Caroline was a 65-year resident of Delaware, and for over 30 years a summer resident of Casco Maine at the Pleasant Lake camp originally built by her father. After a brief career in education, she became a dedicated house wife, mother, and volunteer.

As a mother, she was active in the PTA, home room mother, music booster volunteer, and scout den mother. She was an American Association of University Women member, and served on the Delaware Foster Care Review Board. She belonged to Aldersgate United Methodist Church for over 60 years. Her favorite activities included working the annual AAUW book fair at Concord Mall, playing bridge with Hercules Country Club and Talleybrook civic association members, and spending time with her and friends’ beloved Corgis on Pleasant Lake.

She is survived by her sons Christopher N. Bither of Poland Maine and Daniel P. Bither of Wilmington Delaware; her special niece Caroline N. Mitchell, nephews Josh and Adam Nason, sister-in-law Jude Nason, and several more nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her eldest son Thomas W. Bither; brothers Linfest (Buddy) Nason, Harry E. Nason Jr, Donald W. Nason, and Peter Nason; sisters-in-law Nancy Grape, Francis Nason, and Donna Shea.

In lieu flowers, donations can be made to the Talleyville Fire Company, 3919 Concord Pike, Wilmington, DE 19803. A viewing will take place at McCrery and Harra funeral home, 3924 Concord Pike, Wilmington DE on Friday February 13, 2026 at 3:00 to 4:00PM.
