Christopher Nicholas Skrobot, age 33, of Wilmington, Delaware, passed away on February 5, 2026 at Christiana Hospital after a courageous battle of cancer.
Chris was born in Newark, DE to Nicholas Skrobot and Nancy Skrobot (DeFeo) and was raised in Wilmington. From a young age Chris had an apparent dedication to his community. He started by achieving his Eagle Scout with Troop 61. Chris was a member of Claymont Fire Company where he joined in 2009 while also being a part of the Delaware Wildland Fire Crew, completing multiple tours out west.
Chris became an officer with New Castle County Police Department in 2016. He began his career on B Squad Patrol Division where he quickly earned a reputation as a dedicated officer. In October 2020 he completed the rigorous police motorcycle operator course and became a certified member of the New Castle County Police Motor Unit. December 2020, Chris was transferred to the Evidence Detective Unit where he made an immediate impact for the remainder of his career.
If Chris wasn’t working, you could find him on the back porch with his bourbon and cigar. He loved to be outside, whether it was tinkering with his multiple cars, hunting with family, or fishing with the kids. He loved watching Hunter play baseball or being forced to dress up with Madison. Chris truly valued his time with his family and friends; being with those he loved brought him such joy.
Over the course of the last 2 years, Chris has been cared for by the most dedicated team of doctors and nurses. The family can’t thank his 6E family enough for all of the love and care they have given Chris the past two years. He wouldn’t be here today without the support of Dr. Misleh, Dr. Suppiah and the rest of Medical Oncology Hematology Consultants.
Chris is survived by his beloved wife, Caitlyn Skrobot; his children, Hunter and Madison Skrobot; parents Nicholas and Nancy (DeFeo) Skrobot; sister, Anna Ellixson (David); mother-in-law, Patricia Dodd; father-in-law, Jerry McCarthy (Kathy); sisters-in-law, Amanda Seibert (Brandon) and Briana Bauers.
Family and friends are invited to gather Wednesday February 11th from 5pm-8pm at McCrery and Harra Funeral Home, 3924 Concord Pike Wilmington, DE 19803. Additional parking will be available behind the Brandywine YMCA, 3 Mt. Lebanon Rd, Wilmington. There will be a funeral service on Thursday February 12th at 11:30am at Holy Rosary Church 3200 Philadelphia Pike Claymont, DE. Burial will be held privately.
In lieu of flowers, the family invites those who wish to honor Chris to make a contribution to the Skrobot Children’s Fund, established for the care and future needs of the children. Checks may be payable to Caitlyn Skrobot, with “Skrobot Children’s Fund” written in the memo line and mailed to PO Box 26, Port Penn, Delaware 19731.
