Margaret C. Sharp, age 96, of Wilmington, passed away peacefully and surrounded by her family on February 5, 2026.
She graduated from Wilmington High School, Class of ‘47. She was a secretary at Hercules, teacher assistant at A.I Dupont, a volunteer at the Italian Festival, and married for 66 years to her loving husband.
She enjoyed cooking, attending mass, and going out to dinner with her family. She especially loved the nachos at Kid Shelleen’s. She had an amazing sharp quick whipped mind, and strong willed who was always one step ahead of all of us. A true saint who prayed for us all every night for our protection. Even when things were difficult, she always found a way to still laugh and smile. She loved cardinals, Hallmark movies, red was her favorite color, and she truly was luck of the Irish with bingo! She was the one, the only, bubblegum queen, but make sure she does not run out. She enjoyed spending time with her family at the shore at Stone Harbor, NJ and celebrating the holidays, especially Christmas time with her family.
She is survived by her son-in-law, Bruce Jewett; granddaughters, Sara Jewett and Kelly Jewett; and numerous other nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her loving parents, Clement Carney and Anne Carney; sisters, Elizabeth “Betty” Taylor, Katherine “Kitty” Durnan, Anne Marie “Rie” Donovan; and brother, Clement A. “Buddy” Carney Jr; daughter, Carol Jewett; son, Stephen Sharp Jr; and husband, Stephen Sharp Sr.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, February 13th at St. Anthony of Padua Church. The viewing will begin at 11:00 a.m. Burial at Cathedral Cemetery will follow.
