DelGuercio, Frank

Frank DelGuercio, age 75, of Claymont, Delaware passed away at home on January 13, 2026 after a courageous battle with multiple health issues.

Frank was born in Italy in 1950 and came to the US in 1952 growing up in Overbrook (West Philadelphia). He attended Saint Callistus grade school followed by 4 years at St. Thomas Moore High School. He then went on to become Vice President of Corporate Real Estate for a major bank for his entire career.

Frank passed away leaving behind a legacy rooted in love, loyalty and family. He was a devoted father, a proud grandfather, and a steady presence for his extended family, all of whom knew they could always count on him.

Family meant everything to Frank. He shared a deep and abiding love with his son and took immense pride and joy in his granddaughters whose lives he followed closely and supported wholeheartedly. His extended family was just as important to him and he remained closely connected, valuing every gathering, conversation and shared moment.

Frank had a lifelong love of sports, especially his beloved Philadelphia Eagles. Game days were never just about football – they were about passion, tradition, and connection. He also found peace and happiness in fishing, appreciating the calm, patience and simple joy it brought him. An avid reader, Frank enjoyed politics and history books, always eager to learn, discuss and reflect on the events and ideas that shaped the world.

A man of deep loyalty, Frank maintained close friendships with those he had known since childhood. These enduring bonds spoke to his character and his belief in the importance of staying connected and showing up for the people who mattered.

Frank will be remembered for his devotion to family, his love of sports, fishing, politics and history and his unwavering commitment to the relationships he cherished.

Though he will be deeply missed, his legacy lives on in the family he loved, the friendships he nurtured and the many lives he touched through his kindness and steadfast presence.

He was preceded in death by his father, Rafael DelGuercio; his mother, Assunta DelGuercio; his sister, Maria Romagnoli; and his two brothers-in-law, Christopher Alleva and Peter Basciano Jr.

Frank is survived by his wife, Sarah DelGuercio; his son, Frank DelGuercio; his step-daughter, Donna Flemming; his granddaughters, Sienna and Sophia DelGuercio; his sisters, Frances Basciano, Angelina Alleva and Crestina Babalonas (and husband Nikolaos); his brother, Ralph DelGuercio; his brother-in-law, Louis Romagnoli; and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on January 23rd at the McCrery & Harra Funeral Home (3924 Concord Pike, Wilmington, DE 19803). Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made in Frank DelGuercio, Sr.’s honor to the St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
