Samuel Triolo Jr., 76, passed away at his home in Wilmington on January 14, 2026. Born in Long Island, New York to Clara and Samuel Triolo Sr., he was drafted into the U.S. Army and stationed to guard the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. Sam was an avid gardener and a member of the Delaware Orchid Society. His passion for orchids and plants is what connected him to his husband, Bryan. He loved cooking, entertaining, traveling, antiquing, and collecting Wizard of Oz memorabilia. On weekends he enjoyed playing cards and sharing movie nights with his close friends.
He is mourned by his husband of 38 years (and six days), Bryan Herring Sr.; children, Bryan Jr. (Natalie), Angela (Lester) and David (Rebecca); grandchildren, Aliyah, Shay, Ariana, Blaize and Elaina. He is also survived by his two brothers, Anthony and Mark Triolo; nieces, Analyse (Sam) and Alyssa (Brad); and great-niece, Sophia. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, James and Russel Triolo.
A visitation will be held on Friday, February 6th between 8-9 a.m. at McCrery & Harra Funeral Home (3710 Kirkwood Highway, Wilmington, DE, 19808). There will be a memorial service at 9 a.m., followed by a committal service at Delaware Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery (2465 Chesapeake City Rd, Bear, DE 19701).
