David M. Cardillo, 93, passed away on January 10, 2026. He was born in Sayre, PA, to Jane and Joseph V. Cardillo. Dave was one of seven children: Joe (Anne), Pete (Mary), Mary (Mike), Jane (Mike), John (Dolores), and Sr. Alice.
Raised in Rutherford, NJ, Dave answered the call to serve his country in the Army during the Korean War. Upon his return, he attended Seton Hall University, where he focused his studies on accounting. In 1961, he married the love of his life, Margaret “Peg” Carberry of Providence, RI.
Dave’s dedicated 30-year career with Hercules Incorporated took the family from New Jersey to Wilmington, Delaware, and to Salt Lake City, Utah, before they finally settled back in Delaware, where he eventually retired.
An avid outdoorsman and hobbyist, Dave was often found bowling, gardening, or fishing. He held a particular passion for golf and crabbing, and he and Peg spent many happy years traveling together, both domestically and abroad. A devout Roman Catholic, Dave was also a proud member of the Knights of Columbus.
His wife of 64 years, Peg passed away in November of 2025. Dave is survived by his daughter, Ann (John); his son, Mark (Dawn); his beloved grandchildren, Sean and Aidan and his brother John.
A visitation will be held on Friday, February 27, from 10-11am at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 4701 Weldin Rd, Wilmington, DE where a Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11am. Inurnment will be held privately.
