Carmella “Connie” R. Caudell, 93, of Newark, died on January 9, 2026.
One of 3 children of Joseph and Philomena Marrongelli, Connie was born in Philadelphia.
She spent her working years as an administrative assistant and bookkeeper for several businesses including McCrery Funeral Homes, where she worked for several years before retiring. The main focus of Connie’s life was her family, and she was devoted to her husband, Jim, their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was definitely the family matriarch and cared for everyone with a big heart, a quick sense of humor, and a great spirit of love.
Connie’s husband of 56 years, James C. Caudell, Sr. died in 2006, and she is survived by their 6 children: Patricia Reinbold, James C. Caudell, Jr., Barbara Jones, Joseph Caudell, Christine Casapulla (Joseph), and David Caudell (Donna); 15 grandchildren; and 7 great-grandchildren. In addition to Jim and her parents, Connie was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Katlynn; her great-grandson, Levi; her son-in-law, Kerry Reinbold; her sister, Jennie Walker; and her brother, Dom Marrongelli.
A visitation for Connie will be held at Holy Family Catholic Church, 15 Gender Road, Newark, on Tuesday, January 20 from 10:30-11:30, followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30. Interment at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery will be held privately. The family suggests honoring Connie’s memory by sending a donation to the Little Sisters of the Poor, 185 Salem Church Rd., Newark, DE19713 which was a favorite charity of Connie’s.
