Elizabeth A. Grabowski (Betty), age 90, of Wilmington, DE was called home to her final resting place and passed away December 20, 2025.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Lech (Les); Leslie Ann Grabowski (her sweet guardian angel, who died at birth in 1955); her parents, Walter and Sophie Olenderski; brothers, Walter, Eugene, and John; sister, Carol; and son-in-law, Wayne Godwin. Betty is survived by her son, Richard Grabowski (Kay); daughters, Diane Smith and Susan Godwin; brother-in-law, Robert Grabowski; sisters-in-law, Christine Matlusky, Linda and Elaine Olenderski; grandchildren, Matthew Grabowski (Jaclyn), Ryan Grabowski (Noriko), Leslie Haynes (Mark); great grandchildren, Kate, Jack, Ellyana, Ian Grabowski, Hana Grabowski, Nathan Haynes, Nathan Godwin, and Christopher Haynes, and her precious dog, Josie.
Betty was born February 26, 1935. She was happily married for 60 years to Les. Les and Betty enjoyed raising their family, dancing together, traveling, and cooking. Above all, Betty had a very strong faith in God. She was a believer in the Gospel and prayer was very important to her. She often prayed with others.
Small but mighty, Betty was the one who worked endlessly behind the scenes preparing for the special times shared with family and friends. We will always remember the amazing meals prepared by Betty and Les for their family and friends. The first thing Betty would say to you was, “Are you hungry?” Food was an expression of love and her children will carry this forward.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am on January, 12th at St. Matthew’s Catholic Church (901 E Newport Pike, Wilmington, DE 19804). Friends may call beginning at 10:00 am. Interment at All Saints Cemetery will follow. In lieu of flowers, to capture Betty’s spirit of love, kindness, and giving, the family request that you please do a kind deed to pay it forward.
