Rodney Julian Field, age 94, of Ashburn, Virginia formerly of Hockessin, Delaware, died on Monday, November 3rd, 2025.
He was born in Greenville, South Carolina, first born child of Julian and Gearl Field, graduating high school from Greenville High in 1949, and Georgia Tech with a Bachelors in Chemical Engineering in 1954 having lived and worked in Newark, Dover, and Hockessin, Delaware in addition to California and Wisconsin.
His interests and hobbies included a lifelong love for astronomy and photography where he especially enjoyed capturing the life events, accomplishments, and many activities of both his children and grandchildren as they grew up over the years.
He was predeceased by his wife Jean I. M. Field, formerly of Wilmington, Delaware; his daughter Cynthia Goshorn of Arnold, Maryland; and sister Susan Goodlett of South Carolina. He is survived by his remaining two daughters: Melinda Gornic and her spouse Carlos and daughter Leah of Tulsa, Oklahoma and Vanessa Hiller and her two daughters Miranda and Avery of Ashburn, Virginia; his son-in-law David Goshorn and his three sons Benjamin, Christopher, and Alexander of Arnold, Maryland; sister Carolyn Hall of North Carolina; and brother Steven Hall of Florida and their families.
Burial will be held privately on November 14, at Lower Brandywine Cemetery, Wilmington, DE.
