Frazer Francis Jones, 82, of Wilmington, died on November 8, 2025 after a long battle with Parkinson’s Disease. Lately a resident of Maris Grove in Glen Mills, PA, Frazer lived in Brandywine Hundred for nearly 50 years, but grew up in Newark, DE with his mother Agnes Griffith Frazer Jones and father Ira “Jake” Jones.
Frazer retired from AIG Insurance, where among other duties, he managed the relationship with VFIS, the nation’s largest insurer for emergency personnel. One of his proudest professional achievements was ensuring the efficient and timely payment to the families of first responders lost in New York City on 9-11. Prior to his time at AIG, Frazer was a Vice President at Delaware Importers.
Frazer was a lifelong lover of theatre. A Lifetime Member of the Brandywiners, Ltd., he appeared on stage with them dozens of times, including twice as Angus MacGuffie in Brigadoon. He also worked an actor and director with The Breck’s Mill Cronies, the Chapel Street Players, the Wilmington Drama League, Alumni/Artists Theatre Association, Candlelight Dinner Theatre, the Three Little Bakers and others. Though he pursued a Masters Degree in Theatre at Indiana University, he traded the glamorous life for family, meeting his wife Sandra Schoy Jones in a 1968 production of Plain & Fancy with the Brandywiners, and marrying her in 1971. They had three sons, and Frazer eagerly filled in wherever needed in the lives of his sons: a little league coach, a soccer coach, a cub scout pack leader and later in life supported his son Michael as a member of the Imperial Court of New York.
In his life BC (or Before Children), he was passionate about gourmet cooking, and with Sandi, was an avid road rallyist. In later life, he administered an email list for Husbands Out to Wives.
He is survived by his sons Michael Barret Jones (and husband Kerry Ashforth) of Reston, Virginia, and Cameron Burke Jones (and wife Margo) of New Castle. He is predeceased by his wife Sandra Schoy Jones (2009) and son Gary Durant Jones (1998).
Visitation will be at McCrery and Harra Funeral Home, 3924 Concord Pike, Wilmington, DE 19803 at 9:30 am on Saturday, November 15, 2025, with services following at 10:30 am. Interment will be at Chester Bethel Church, 2619 Foulk Rd, Wilmington, DE 19810.
