Sophie Ann Hershey, age 76, of Wilmington, DE passed away peacefully on Friday, November 7, 2025.
She was born and raised in Wilmington, DE and was the daughter of the Helen (Ambagis) Rossi and the late Paul Rossi. She graduated from Wilmington High School.
Sophie started her working career as a legal secretary in Allentown, PA. She then spent 10 years at AstraZeneca Pharmaceuticals retiring as an administrative coordinator.
Sophie enjoyed oldies music from the 60’s and she loved the beach, especially spending time in Lewes, Delaware. Sophie was an advocate of animal welfare, where she was a generous supporter of Faithful Friends Animal Society. She even published a children’s book to help support Faithful Friends, Tree of Life…A Love Story. Additionally, Sophie was also a hospice volunteer for Delaware Palliative.
Sophie is survived by her brother, Paul Rossi, Sr. and his wife Joan; two daughters, Lori M. Leonard and Alexis Haller; three grandchildren, Steven, Jr., Kinsley and William; two nephews, Paul Rossi, Jr. and his wife Sinead, and Joel Rossi and his wife Sara. She also leaves behind many friends to cherish her memories.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 18 from 9:30-10:30 am at McCrery & Harra Funeral Home, 3710 Kirkwood Hwy, Wilmington where a memorial service will follow at 10:30. Burial will be held privately.
