Charles Hodgson, 57, of Newark, Delaware, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 23, 2025, after a prolonged illness.
A proud graduate of Newark High School, the University of Delaware, and Wilmington University, Charles earned his degree in accounting but soon discovered his true calling lay beyond the confines of a traditional career. His interest in hospitality led him to the restaurant industry, where he made a lasting impact. Charles held management roles at Deer Park Tavern, Stewart’s Brewing Co., and TGI Fridays, before becoming co-owner of two Rehoboth Beach establishments: the Pickled Pig Pub and the Pig & the Fish.
Charles was predeceased by his father, Brian. He is survived by his devoted mother, Patricia; his loving brother Thomas, and wife, Alida; and his cherished nephews, Lucas, Nico, and Rafael. He also leaves behind his aunt Sandra and Errol Betzenberger, cousins Jim and Sue Betzenberger, and Lee and Kara Betzenberger.
Charles—affectionately known to many as “Chuck”— will be remembered for his warmth, humor, and generous spirit. His love of football, legendary golf trips, and ability to bring people together made him a treasured friend to many. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
A celebration of Charles’s life will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, November 1, 2025, at McCrery & Harra Funeral Home on Concord Pike.
