It is with heavy heart the passing of Bryan K. Kreer, age 60 of Newark, DE and Key West, FL on Wednesday, September 10, 2025. He was born on September 27, 1964.
He graduated from Christiana High School (Hodgson Vo-tech) class of 82 and worked as an electrician for 42 years at various electrical contracting companies (Mahoney Electric, Allstate Electric, Paul A. Nickel, C. Paul Nickel, M. Davis, CMI Solar and Electric, Check Electric).
Bryan was an active member of Aetna Hose Hook and Ladder Fire Co. in Newark, Delaware since October 13, 1989. He began as an active firefighter who quickly took on the responsibilities of an officer and rose through the ranks. He was elected and served as a respected Chief in 2007 and 2008. He participated in multiple organizations within the fire department, including but not limited to: boot drives, implementing safety procedures and was a staple in the housing of Station 10 and Rescue 8. He recently moved back to Delaware to take care of his parents. Bryan found the greatest joy in spending time with his grandson Gavin, enjoying vacations with family and friends, hanging out with friends reminiscing about the old days, social gatherings at his favorite place “the Hogfish” in the Keys, attending luncheons with his firehouse family and especially playing mischievous jokes on everyone, he met. He had a heart of gold and was always ready to lend a hand or share a story. He leaves behind a legacy of love, support, and unforgettable memories. He is survived by his daughters, Lydia “Maddi” Kreer (Justin) and Ashley Chamberlain (Adam); his cherished grandson, Gavin Chamberlain; his parents William and Patricia Kreer; his sister, Pamela Kreer and brother, Braden Kreer (Leah); his nephews, Devon Kreer and Austin Kreer (Shelby); his beloved Leah Joiner and her son Jeffrey Joiner.
A life celebration will be held on Saturday, October 11th at 4:00pm at Aetna Hose Hook & Ladder Fire Hall located at 410 Ogletown Rd., Newark, DE 19711. It will be followed by a fireman’s procession to honor his many years of dedicated service at Aetna. We will return to the Hall after for a celebration of life.
