Rose R. Ashley, 91, of Claymont, Delaware, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 12, 2025.
Born on July 26, 1934, in Wilmington, Delaware, Rose met the love of her life, Thomas (Tom) R.C. Ashley, in September 1951—just eight months before Tom was inducted into the Army. Just three weeks before Tom entered military service, Rose and Tom planned their wedding, beginning a lifelong journey of 71 years together built on faith, family, and love.
Rose dedicated 47 years of service as a telephone operator with Diamond State Telephone Company, which later became Verizon. She and Tom shared a strong Christian faith that guided their lives. Together, they served in many roles within their church, worked with inner-city children and youth ministries, supported missionaries both locally and abroad, and were active with the Diamond State Telephone Pioneers.
In 1979, Rose (and Tom) founded Ashley Tours, where for 30 years they planned and led memorable fly/drive trips for family and friends—creating cherished experiences and lifelong memories.
Above all, Rose was devoted to her family. She and Tom were blessed with two children, Michael Ashley and Rachel Macha (Rich), and five beloved grandchildren, triplets (Aaron, Ashley, Abbey Macha) and twins (Anthony and Austin Macha)who brought her endless pride and joy.
A visitation for family and friends will be held at 11:00 a.m., followed by a funeral service at 12:00 p.m. on Monday, September 15, 2025, at McCrery & Harra Funeral Home, 3924 Concord Pike, Wilmington, Delaware 19803. Interment will be held privately.
