On September 6, 2025, cradled in the arms of her guardian angel, Lorraine, age 95, was brought to God and those she loved who had gone before her.
Born in Eynon, Pennsylvania to Olga (née Lemoncelli) and Sebastian Berardi, Lorraine was the oldest of five daughters. She did well in school and graduated from Scranton Lackawanna College in 1948 with honors.
In 1951, she married the love of her life, Alfred (Freddy) Bisignani, in Peckville, PA. Together, they moved to Delaware and raised a family, building a life of devotion, music, and community.
Faith was central to Lorraine. She sang joyfully in the church choir throughout her life. One of her proudest moments was traveling to Rome with the choir of The Church of the Holy Child to sing for Pope John Paul II at St. Peter’s Basilica.
Lorraine’s energy and spirit shone through in many ways: she served as President of her civic association, bowled in the local league, enjoyed gardening, sewing and baking, and was a dedicated Avon representative. As an “Avon Lady,” she formed lifelong friendships and rose to President’s Club status. Lorraine traveled across the country on family camping trips and across an ocean to reconnect with relatives in Italy. Of all her accomplishments, she was proudest of her role as mother to her seven “chicks.”
Predeceased by her parents, her husband of 61 years, and 2 sisters, Lorraine is survived by her 7 children: Paul, Christine Fenimore, Thomas (Laurie), Renee Shearer (Steven), Michael, Sharon Phillips (James), and Michelle Piazza; 11 grandchildren; sister Frances Marcinek; dear sister Doreen Graziano and niece Melanie; well-loved godchild Donna Lisowski; and many nieces and nephews.
Lorraine was truly fortunate to be cared for by her devoted son, Michael. Her family would like to thank Delaware Hospice for their support in her final days.
Visitation will be held at the McCrery & Harra Funeral Home, 3924 Concord Pike, Wilmington, DE from 6 to 8 p.m., on Sunday, Sept.14th. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 15th, at the Church of the Holy Child, 2500 Naamans Road, Wilmington. Entombment will be at Lawn Croft Cemetery.
