June 23, 1936 – August 5, 2025
Frederick (“Fred”) William Kreusch, age 89, a resident of the Stonegates community in Wilmington, Delaware, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 5, 2025.
Fred was born June 23, 1936, in Bayonne, New Jersey, the son of Frederick Kreusch and Catherine (Cullen) Kreusch.
Fred graduated in 1954 from Xavier Military Academy in New York, New York. He then attended the University of Notre Dame in South Bend, Indiana, earning a Bachelor of Science Degree/Finance in 1958. Following his graduation, he served from 1958-1960 in the U.S. Army at Fort Holabird in Dundalk, Maryland.
Fred married his high school sweetheart, Charleen T. (Kissinger) Kreusch on October 25, 1958, at Mount Carmel Church, Tenafly, New Jersey. They resided first in Oradell, New Jersey from 1960 – 1967, and then moved to Wyckoff, New Jersey, where they lived for 37 years and raised their five children.
Fred was employed for over forty years at General Motors headquarters in New York, New York, where he was a dedicated, loyal and highly recognized employee. He was instrumental in developing GM’s Board of Directors “Guidelines on Significant Corporate Governance Issues,” which was emulated and adopted by other major corporate boards. His experience at GM covered a wide range of staff and management positions, including budgeting, financial analysis, portfolio management, and coordination of financial matters with GM stockholders.
Fred served as President and Treasurer of the Stockholder Relation Society of New York, served on the Board of Directors of the Corporate Transfer Agents Association, and on the Advisory Board of the Securities Information Center, an SEC sponsored board.
In 2000, Fred and Charleen retired to Seabrook Island, South Carolina, where they enjoyed 15+ years of meeting new friends, sunshine, many social events, much laughter, and lots of golf. They hosted numerous family events with their children and grandchildren, travelled domestically and abroad, but most of all enjoyed the calm of coastal living.
Fred not only kept active socially but was involved in Seabrook Island community boards, serving in several elected roles, including as a board member and president of the Kiawah-Seabrook Exchange Club. Additionally, he served on the Club’s House, Finance, and Controls and Compliance Committees; was elected Chairman of the Finance Committee; and served as Treasurer of the Seabrook Island Property Owners Association. Fred and Charleen moved to Delaware and the Stonegates community in 2017, to be closer to their children and grandchildren.
