Marianne Mellon Brady, age 88, of Wilmington, Delaware, formerly of Darby, Pennsylvania, died on August 2, 2025, surrounded by her family and the caring staff at Complete Care of Brackenville.
She attended West Catholic Girls High School of Philadelphia, Gwynedd Mercy College, and Bon Secours School of Nursing in Baltimore, MD.
Marianne was a dedicated and accomplished geriatric nurse. She was an Associate of the Sisters of Bon Secours as well as an Associate of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Chestnut Hill. She had a lifetime commitment to Little Sisters of the Poor, which she passed on to her children.
Marianne loved gardening, the mountains, going to the beach, her Irish heritage, her family, and hosting social gatherings. Marianne is known by all for her caring, compassionate, friendly, and vibrant personality. She loved to talk to people to find out what was going on in their lives, and she showed a genuine interest in the well-being of others. Her empathy was truly her superpower.
Marianne is predeceased by Mary Woods Mellon McDonald (mother), James J. Mellon (father), and James Mellon (brother).
She is survived by her seven red-haired children, all with advanced degrees: Beth Angelini (Michael), John Brady (Dina), Kathleen Kowalski, Julie Brady (Chris), Donna Raziano (Nicholas), Diane Janosek (James), and Ryan Brady (Rebecca). Marianne had twenty grandchildren whom she loved and adored.
Funeral visitation will be held on Saturday, August 23, 2025, at The Church of the Holy Child, 2500 Naamans Rd., Wilmington, DE 19810, from 10:30 am to 11:30 am, and Mass of Christian Burial will start at 11:30 am. The interment will be private.
