Campbell, William G.

William G. Campbell

1941-2025

Independent and kind, Bill was a wise counselor, enthusiastic eater, and supportive husband, father, and friend. He was born in Atlantic City, NJ, lived in New York, moved to Wilmington, and graduated from Conrad High School, University of Delaware, and Temple University School of Law. Bill and his wife Bobbi traveled extensively through Europe and the United States. They enjoyed Caribbean and Hawaiian vacations, loved cruises, and explored Russia, Japan, and Turkey. The Campbells threw great parties, especially their annual Trim-A-Tree and shared St. Patrick’s Day celebrations.

Bill always worked hard, starting with his teenage job as an ice cream truck driver. He spent many years as an attorney for Bayard, Handleman, and Murdoch and recently retired as Senior Program Director for the Delaware Council for Gambling Problems. He and Bobbi also found meaning and met some of their closest friends through their involvement in Delaware politics and government, as well as local nonprofits, including the Grand Opera House and the Ministry of Caring.

Bill was preceded in death by his wife and is survived by his daughter Elizabeth Campbell, her husband Stephen Salerno, and their sons Noah and Ian; his daughter Heather Campbell Coyle, her husband John Coyle, and daughter Caroline; as well as his brother Thomas Campbell.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 30, 2025 from 5-7 pm at the McCrery & Harra Funeral Home, 3924 Concord Pike, Wilmington, with a funeral service the following day, Thursday, July 31, at the funeral home at 10 am. Interment in Gracelawn Memorial Park.
