George W. “Bill” Lenhoff, Jr., age 86 formerly of New Castle and Claymont, DE passed away peacefully with loved ones by his side on Monday, July 21, 2025
He was born in Laurel, DE and raised in Wilmington. Bill is the son of the late Margaret (Ryan) and George W. Lenhoff, Sr. He graduated from Salesianum School in 1956. Bill then earned a bachelor’s degree in 1960 from King’s College in business. He proudly served his country in the Army Reserves from 1961-1965.
He started his working career as a claims representative for Aetna Casualty from 1962-1966.Bill then was a Senior Cost Accountant for General Motors from 1966-1992. He then retired from Delaware Guidance Services in the human resources department in 1997 after 5 years of service.
Bill was very involved in his community. He was a President of the Home & School Assoc. at Holy Rosary, a board member of Ashbourne Swim Club, an officer of the Green Tree Civic Assoc. and a President of the Padua Athletic Assoc. Bill enjoyed photography and was an avid Eagles and Phillies fan.
He is survived by his wife Roberta (Krzywicki) Lenhoff; 3 children, Mark Lenhoff (Magdalena), Michele Woodbridge (Michael) and Maureen Wenner (Jay); 4 grandchildren, Justin & Conner Woodbridge and Taylor & Chloe Wenner. Bill was also preceded in death by his sister, Rita Condon.
A viewing will be held on Monday, July 28 from 10 to 11:15 am at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 4701 Weldin Rd, Wilmington. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the church beginning at 11:30 am. Burial will follow at St. Joseph on the Brandywine Cemetery, Wilmington.
