Margit D. Walter (Seidel)
Born June 3, 1952
Passed July 10, 2025
Margit was born in Berlin, Germany. She came to Delaware with her parents at the age of 1½. Her early years were spent in Wilmington, DE. The family moved to Newark after a few years, where Margit spent the rest of her life. She was a graduate of Newark High and the University of Delaware.
Margit worked for many years at the DuPont Company in the Louviers building in Newark, starting as a secretary and advancing to a computer-aided design input operator. She left DuPont to raise her two sons. She later returned to work at the US Bankruptcy Court, District of Delaware, where she started in the mailroom and advanced to bankruptcy clerk before retiring.
Margit was a loving daughter, sister, mother, and grandmother (called “mom-o” by her grandkids), and mom to her various pets throughout the years. Family was everything to her, and she always wanted gatherings to be fun and festive. Margit had a creative spark that she would probably deny and didn’t get enough credit for, and, along with her sister, made sure to keep German holiday traditions alive. She always had a smile, which she unfailingly tried to pass on to others, and will be sorely missed by family and friends.
She was predeceased by Horst H. Seidel (father). She is survived by Dorothea G. Seidel (mother), Nancy H. Seidel (sister), son Adam Walter, son Eric Walter (and his wife, Jenn), and grandchildren Jackson Walter and August Walter.
A memorial service for Margit will be held at 11:00 AM on July 25th at the McCrery & Harra Funeral Home (3710 Kirkwood Hwy., Wilmington, DE 19808). Friends may call beginning at 10:00 AM. Interment at All Saints Cemetery will follow.
