Phillip Arnold Thompson of Wilmington, Delaware and Pawleys Island, South Carolina passed away on June 26, 2025. He was born in Wilmington, Delaware to Leonard and Helen, both of whom predeceased him. He was also predeceased by his spouse Patricia A. Thompson. He is survived by his sister-in-law, Michale (Earl) and his brother-in-law Harry (Bonnie) and their children, as well as his two sons, Ethan (Alisa) and their children Shane and Meagan (Richard) and their child Richard, and Jason (Robert), and stepson Andrew (Margrett), and their children Therese, Ambrose, Faustina and Avellino.
Phillip grew up in the Wilmington, Delaware area and graduated from Newark High School. He attended Goldey Beacom School of Business where he earned his Associate in Arts degree in Accounting and Business Administration. He served in the Army National Guard of Delaware, where he earned Badges in Sharpshooting (Riflle) and Expert Rifle as well as a Medal in Aid to Civil Authority. While in the Guard, he worked for Beneficial Management Corporation. After he completed his public service, he continued to work for Beneficial, where he rose through the ranks, retiring as an Assistant Vice President.
After marrying Patricia they moved to northern New Jersey, where they raised their blended family, prior to retiring to Pawleys Island, SC in 2005. It was in Pawley’s that he met his life-long friends, Giany (Lisette) and their children, Mael and Jessica. He left Pawley’s Island in 2024, and returned to Wilmington, Delaware, for the remainder of his days.
He loved his family and friends and always looked after them. His passions were traveling all over the world with Pat and their family, boating, tennis and card games. He was a quiet person but always brought a bright light into any space he entered. That light will be missed.
