Jesslynn “Alexis” Moyer Williams, age 75, passed away at home on Monday, June 16, 2025, with her family by her side. She leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness.
Alexis was born in Cresson, PA. Her early years were spent in Texas and Ohio before moving to Delaware as a teenager. She graduated from Newark High School, then earned a BS in Agriculture at the University of Delaware and an MBA at Central Michigan University. She worked for the State of Delaware in social services before beginning a career in pharmaceutical research at DuPont, DuPont Merck, Sandoz, Novartis, and AstraZeneca.
Throughout her life, Alexis had a love of horses. As a teen and young adult, she volunteered to take care of therapy horses, used to help troubled children. She also owned three horses and taught her younger sister, Lucille, how to ride.
Alexis was a beacon of hope, love, and kindness. She started her career at the Governor Bacon Health Center, working with children from broken homes. She would often invite a child she met there, who had nowhere to go, to join her and her family for holiday dinners.
Alexis met her husband, Dennis E. Williams, at Fred Astaire Dance Studio in Wilmington. Alexis and Dennis later taught ballroom dancing together for several years.
Alexis is survived by her husband of 35 years, Dennis; their son, Edward (Krista); beloved granddaughter, Rowan; sisters, Vicki Mraz, Lucille Griffin (Mark), and Jill Reader (Dan); brother, Richard Moyer (Susan); and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 28, 2025 at Lower Brandywine Presbyterian Church (101 Old Kennett Rd, Wilmington, DE 19807). Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in Alexis’ memory may be made to EQUUS Foundation equusfoundation.org.
