Nancy E. Baxter, age 83, of Newark, Delaware, known affectionately as “Mom” “Grandma” and “GG”, died peacefully in her home on Friday, June 13, 2025, surrounded by her family.
She was born in Hartford, CT September 22, 1941 to the late Gordon S. Whitcomb and Eleanor Rose Young.She was employed by the DuPont Company for 25 years, retiring as a Technologist in 1997.In her later years, she enjoyed operating her resale, art and antique consignment retail shop known as “Bear Tales”, and teaching “One Stroke Painting”.She will fondly be remembered for her artwork, sewing and stitch work skills, but mostly for her love of family and building cherished memories.
Nancy was predeceased by her father, Gordon S. Whitcomb; her mother, Eleanor Rose Young; her brother, Robert Whitcomb; and her son-in-law, David Lawhorn. She is survived by her two daughters, Debra Lawhorn and Donna Lupacchino; her son, Dominic Lupacchino (Lynn); grandchildren Pamela Pinder (Larry), Thomas Lawhorn, Holly Beigler (Brandon), Jacob Redic (Brigitte), Amanda Flynn (Cole) and Samantha Lupacchino (Joe); great grandchildren, Thomas Lawhorn, Jr., Kayleigh Lawhorn, Dominic Lawhorn, Wyatt Simmons and Ashley Redic; as well as those she thought of and loved as her own children and grandchildren, Kathy Keys, John Kennedy (Wendy), John Kennedy, Jr., Rebecca McCormac (Paul), Natalie Kennedy, and Thomas and Annabelle McCormac.
The family extends their sincere appreciation to Accent Care Hospice for their compassion, support and guidance, and for providing comfort and care to Nancy during her final hours.
A Celebration of Life will be held 12 p.m. Friday, June 27, 2025 at Five Points Memorial Hall, 209 S. Maryland Avenue, Wilmington, DE.Interment will be private.
