Alexander, Sheila

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of beloved mother, grandmother, sister, friend, and canasta extraordinaire, Sheila Irma Alexander, who peacefully departed this world on May 30, 2025, in Wilmington, Delaware at the age of 79.

Born on December 12, 1945 in Brighton Beach, NY, Sheila lived a life full of love and compassion with a hint of sarcasm sprinkled throughout. She was a proud mother to Elyse Kropp and Adam Alexander; wife to David Alexander; sister to Sheryl Vona and Alan Isadore; and friend to many more. She spent much of her life between North East Philadelphia and Margate City, New Jersey. However, Sheila always had a special love for Delaware because that is where much of her family — who she often claimed was her ‘reason to be here’ — lived.

She is survived by her devoted daughter, Elyse Kropp, as well as her prized son-in-law, Steven Kropp. She also leaves behind two granddaughters, Samantha and Emily Kropp — all of whom loved each other intrinsically and unconditionally. More than this, she leaves behind friends that have stood the test of time with one another since childhood.

Sheila Alexander will be remembered for her spunky attitude, unwavering love, strong sense of humor, devotion to her friends and family, her inability to cook, and of course… ALWAYS wearing sunglasses inside. Her memory and never-ending pizazz will continue to be remembered by those fortunate enough to have known such an incredible woman.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 3th at McCrery & Harra Funeral Home (3924 Concord Pike, Wilmington, DE 19803). Friends may call beginning at 1:00 p.m.
