David Simkins, age 60, of Newark, DE passed away on May 18, 2025 after a battle with cancer. He started his career as a Certified Financial Planner and a Certified Public Accountant, but became a teacher in 1998. He taught 4th grade in the Appoquinimink School District. He returned to accounting with Landmark Engineering in 2003, then became an owner of Landmark Engineering in 2009.
In 2012 he became the CFO/COO of the Masonic Home of Delaware. David was a Master Mason member of Eureka-Dupont Lodge. He was a 12-time Master of Eureka-Dupont Masonic Lodge and served on several different Grand Lodge Committees.
He ended his career as an owner of Supportive Care Solutions.
He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Janet Simkins, his son, James Simkins and his wife Erin Simkins, his daughter, Jessica Simkins and her significant other Zachary Mundy, his mother, Wilma Provost and step-father John Provost, his brother, Bill Simkins and wife Clare Simkins, his nephew Tyler and niece Lauren, and his niece Brittany and nephew Brett, the children of his brother late brother Harry as well as his wife Cindy, who has since remarried; Bob and Judy Huss, sister-in-law and their children Amanda and Dylan. He was also predeceased by his father Harry Simkins, Sr.
The family would like to thank those who prepared hundreds of meals for the Simkins family, during David’s illness, including the Y pilates group, Julie and Marc Pepi, and many others who were so generous with their time and money.
David would like to thank all of the doctors, nurses, and support staff at Christiana Hospital who kept him alive much longer than originally thought. In addition, David would like all of the help, comfort and advice given by Mel to be recognized.
A visitation will be held on Friday, May 23rd 2025 from 10-12 noon at McCrery & Harra 3710 Kirkwood Highway Wilmington DE. A Masonic Service will begin at 12 noon followed by a celebration of his life. Burial will be private.
