William Leonard Lamplugh, Jr., age 85, of Landenburg, PA and formerly of Wilmington, DE passed away peacefully after a prolong illness, with his wife by his side on Monday, April 28, 2025.
He was born and raised in Wilmington, DE and is the son of the late Maxine (Case) and William Leonard Lamplugh, Sr. Bill graduated from Salesianum School in 1957 and through technical schools, he earned a degree in computer science.
He proudly serviced his county in the United States Marine Corp.
Bill’s working career, 32 years, was at the Dupont Company where he retired in 1991. He then became a consultant for Computer Science Corporation.
Bill raised Beagles for over 15 years and was a member of the American Kennel Club. He entered many Field Trials and won many awards. While living in Tennessee, the family lived on a 5-acre lot where they had horses and chickens. Bill also became a gardener, where he harvest enough to feed the neighborhood. He also enjoyed watching sports and playing sports where he was very competitive. Bill also was a body builder and before his heart attack he was going to compete in the Senior Olympics.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Joyce (Henderson); two children, Michelle A. Morales (Ulysses, Jr.) and Michael A. Lamplugh (Debra Wessleman); three grandchildren, Samantha Kubala (Andrew), Jenna Frost (Allan) and Austin Lamplugh (Samantha Nicole Flocco); two great-grandchildren, Scarlett Renee Kubala and William Michael Lamplugh; two siblings, Lewis Gary Lamplugh (Elaine) and Lisa Roberts (Mark) and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A viewing will be held on Monday, May 5, from 10-11 am at the McCrery & Harra Funeral Home, 3710 Kirkwood Hwy, Wilmington, DE where a funeral service will follow at 11 am. Military Honors will follow the service. Burial will be held privately.
