Michael E. ”Mike” Manley, Sr. age 73, of Wilmington, DE passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 26, 2025, surrounded by loved ones.
Mike was born and raised in Wilmington, DE and is the son of the late Mary E. (Dailey) and Thomas E. Manley. He graduated from Salesianum School in 1969 and earned a bachelor’s degree in education at the University of Delaware and also attended Wilmington College.
He taught at a variety of schools in New Castle County and coached freshman football for over 20 years, mostly at Salesianum.
Most important to Mike was being a devoted husband and raising his children. He then was blessed with grandchildren whom he adored.
Mike is survived by his wife of 55 years, Beatrice F. (Norris); 5 children, Michael E. Manley, Jr. (Danielle), Matthew T. Manley (Katie), Timothy J. Manley, Sr. (Kristin), Elizabeth A. Marino (Joseph) and Joseph R. Manley (Juliann); 1 sister, Mary Bates (Jay); 15 grandchildren, Michael E. III, Aidan (Kate), Molly, Caroline, Timmy, Jr., Maddy, Bridget, Patrick, Declan, Cormac, Mona, Ronan, Jospeh, Jr., Magnus, and Finnian; a sister-in-law, Linda Robinson (Bernie) and brother-in-law, Earl Norris (Cheryl)
A visitation will be held on Friday, May 2, from 10-11 am at St. Helena’s Church, 602 Philadelphia Pike, Wilmington, DE. A Mass of Christian Burial will then be celebrated at 11 am at the church. Burial will be held privately.
