Kromedas, Constantinos G.

Constantinos G. Kromedas, known also as “Gus”, left this world peacefully at his home on January 21, 2025. He was born in Sparta, Greece in 1930 where he grew up and worked on family land. In 1948, he served in the Greek Army, and in 1950 was chosen by the Spartan Battalion to serve in the Korean War until he was injured.

At age 25, he emigrated to the United States and was proud to become an American citizen. In 1962, he met and married his wife, Vasiliki “Vicki”, who had also emigrated from Greece. Together, they worked hard and opened three “Gus’s Sub Shops” in the city of Wilmington. His business was well known and was featured twice in the Delaware News Journal. “Mr. Gus”, as his customers knew him, looked forward going to work and cooking for them until he retired at the age of 79.

Constantinos loved cooking and being outdoors. He enjoyed gardening, and was always looking to do outdoor projects. However, his love for his family was above all. A devoted husband and father, he did everything he could to provide them with a better life.

Constantinos was predeceased by his son, George. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Vasiliki “Vicki”; son, Angelo; daughter, Helene (Georgios); grandchildren, Theodosis (Stephanie), Constantine (Maria), and Alex; and great-grandchildren, Elena and Niko Yiorgo.
