Snij, Muna

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Muna Snij, age 78, of Hockessin, Delaware, who passed away on May 30th, 2024.

Muna was born in 1946 in Damascus, Syria. She was the cherished only daughter among three brothers: Raif, in France; Nader, in Syria; and the late Nabil.

Muna pursued higher education at Damascus University, where she earned a Master’s degree in Business Administration and Economics. Her career flourished in the Ministry of Economics, where she rose to the esteemed position of Assistant Minister.

As one of the few working women of her time, Muna served as a trailblazing role model for many women who followed in her footsteps.

Muna was a devoted wife to the late Faiz Batah. She is survived by her loving son and daughter, Feras and Rabia, their spouses Lama and Nabil; and her beloved grandchildren: Joelle, Peter, Michael, Danielle, Maya, and Alexander.

Her passions included traveling, reading, cooking, and playing cards. Muna also had a deep appreciation for French and Italian music. She will be remembered by friends and family for her wisdom, compassion, and exceptional hospitality.

A funeral service to honor Muna’s life will be held at the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 808 N Broom St, Wilmington, DE 19806, on Wednesday, June 12th, at noon where friends may arrive after 11:30 am. Burial will follow at Silverbrook Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the church are appreciated.
