Murter, Dorothy Marie

DECEMBER 19, 1926 – APRIL 14, 2024

Dot was born in Collingdale, PA on December 19th, 1926. She was the daughter of the late John and Maybelle Boner. She passed away peacefully at home at the age of 97 in Montgomery, TX on April 14th, 2024. She has now moved on to her eternal home with the Lord.

Affectionately known as Mom, Grannie, Aunt and Ms. Dot she brought joy to all those who knew her. Her infectious smile and laughter would light up any room she entered. She truly loved the Lord with all her heart, mind, soul, and strength, and she loved her neighbors as herself. She never met a stranger.

Dot loved to dance, and she loved to walk, but her greatest love was saved for family. She married the love of her life Lou Murter on July 12th,1952 and together they raised 2 children and were very involved with their nephews and nieces as they were growing up. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy.

Dot was known for her service to her church and community. She was an active faithful member of the Cedars Church of Christ in Wilmington, DE for 60 years. She was active in the ladies’ ministry, taught bible classes, and worked with the food pantry. She was a long-time volunteer at Camp Manatawny, a Christian summer youth camp that she and her late husband helped start. In the community she was involved with Square-Dancing groups, the Red Hats, Parents without Partners and Post Cana organizations. She moved to Montgomery, TX in 2014 and became an active member of the Conroe Church of Christ where she became a spiritual mentor to many of the members as she continued to live her life for Jesus until her final days. While there she found a passion for serving the homeless through the Conroe House of Prayer.

Dot is preceded in death by her husband Eugene “Lou” Murter, parents John and Maybelle Boner, brother James Boner (wife Louise), sister Ruth Murter (husband Joseph) and grandson Bill Repko.

She is survived by her daughter Dorene Helton (husband Terry), son Lee Murter (wife Mary), and grandchildren Zachary Helton (wife Ava), Taylor Murter and Sydney Murter.
