Andrew P. “Andy” Olsen, age 59 of Elkton, MD and formerly of Claymont, DE, passed away after a brief illness, with loved ones by his side, on Thursday, April 4, 2024.
He was born in Chester, PA, and raised in Claymont, DE, and is the son of Nancy M. (Lavin) Olsen and his late father Alfred J. Olsen
Andy graduated from Holy Rosary School, Claymont, and Salesianum School in 1982. He then attended RETS electronic trade school. Andy worked up until his illness for Canon Solutions USA for 19 years as a photocopier technician.
Andy enjoyed Philadelphia sports teams, especially the Phillies and Eagles, reading, (he loved Stephen King), and lawn maintenance for family, friends and neighbors.
Along with his mother Nancy Olsen, Andy is survived by his 7 siblings, Chris Olsen (Kathy), Michael Olsen (Eileen), Judy Matthews (Stephen), Brian Olsen, Mary Rose DaVia (Doug), Donna Parsons (Bill) and Amy Wright (Tom); his companion Jeanne and his dog Zambia, numerous nieces and nephews and grand nieces and nephews. He is also preceded in death by his wife Maria Lawler.
A viewing will be held on Friday, April 12 from 9 am-10:45 am, Holy Rosary Church. 3200 Philadelphia Pk, Claymont, DE, 19703. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11 am. Burial will be at Lawncroft Cemetery, Linwood, PA.
