Robert C. Schreyer, 68, a renowned Hilton Head (SC) chef, died at his home in South Forest Beach on October 27, 2023 after a multi-year battle with cancer. Robert is survived by his mother, Marie (“Denny”), and his brother James. He was preceded in death by his father, Ralph C. Schreyer.
The valedictorian of his 1973 Concord High School class, Robert was a 1978 University of Delaware graduate and also held a diploma from the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, NY.
An avid reader and passionate Philadelphia sports fan, Rob worked at numerous Hilton Head restaurants, including Fulvio’s, Big Rocco’s, Fratellos, and The Quarterdeck. He spent the last 15 years of his career working at the Seabrook Retirement Community.
Rob will be missed by his co-workers and the many friends he made over his 40 years on Hilton Head Island. His remains will be interred alongside his father in the family plot at Lower Brandywine Cemetery, 101 Old Kennett Rd., Greenville, DE 19807. Friends may gather graveside at noon on Wednesday, November 29 to bid him final farewell. Interested persons should notify McCrery & Harra Funeral Home of their plans to attend.
