McQuage, James

James McQuage, age 92, passed away September 25 due to complications from stroke and dementia.

Jim lived in North Carolina prior to entering the Air Force where he served for four years. After his discharge from the Military, he went to work for Atlas Powder Company. While working there he continued his education under the GI Bill and later accepted a job with the DuPont Company in Central Research at the Experimental Station. He worked at DuPont until his retirement. After a few years of retirement Jim went back to work part time for Rehabilitation Consultants in Wilmington.

Jim loved sports of all kinds. He was a member of the DuPont Country Club where he played golf and tennis. He learned ballroom dancing and could be seen most Saturday nights on the dance floor at the country club. He was also an avid pool player and played many competitive games, winning a few tournaments, at Del Vets Post No. 1 where he was a member.

Jim is survived by his wife Margaret, daughter Donna Whalen (Lew). Granddaughters Kimberly Smith (Matt) and Jenna Serman (Aron). Great grandchildren Hailey, Cora, Tanner and Maisie. Jim was predeceased by his brother Rev. Frank McQuage.

Funeral service is planned for Friday, September 29 at McCrery & Harra, 3924 Concord Pike, Wilmington. Visitation is at 10:30 am with funeral service starting at 11 am. Burial will be at a later date.

In lieu of flowers or gifts of condolences the family would appreciate donations be sent to Jim’s church, Atonement Church, 3519 Philadelphia Pike, Claymont, DE 19703.
