Julia Acevedo Velez went home to be with the Lord on July 24, 2023 at St. Francis Hospital. She was born in Ponce, Puerto Rico to the late Andres Acevedo and Manuela Velez.
Julia retired as a teacher in Puerto Rico. She taught Junior High and specialized in teaching special needs children. Julia loved to travel. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother. Julia was constantly helping others.
She was preceded in death by her husband Raul Vega Santiago, her sons, Javier Vega and Billy Vega. Julia is survived by her children, Madeline Vega, Ivonne Vega, Grace Vega, Yadira Vega, Raul Vega, Jr., Julie Vega, Yamil Vega and Sammy Vega, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
A viewing will be held on Friday, July 28, 2023 from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at Holy Rosary Catholic Church 3200 Philadelphia Pike, Claymont, DE 19703 where a Mass will follow at 11:00. Burial will be private at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
